The fall

As you know, the bridge is gone making it very hard to get around. And I have noticed that our local streets and shops seem rather empty. This is confirmed by the City Pages.

I really hope that our neighborhood can survive, and that the local shops and places we eat will survive this. It would be such a shame to see all the work in our area suddenly dry up and float away.

Online Romance?!?

Ok. This is the craziest story I have read in a long time.

There are so many things wrong with what happens in that story, I barely know where to begin.

Follow up about the story is here.

Minneapolis bridges falling down..

Photo from Mike Wills

As you may know, we had a bridge collapse. Our local indy paper, The City Pages, has an interesting article about who is to blame.

Right now, I am looking at the no new taxes, but we need a baseball stadium crowd. We don't need a new stadium, cuz people aren't using the ones you have. Each time we build one, you don't like it or you blame it for your crappy team not winning. Maybe your teams are just crappy!

Meanwhile, our bridges are caked with high corrosive bird poop and FALLING DOWN!

And did I mention that my whole commute sucks now?

Losing My Religion

This is a very interesting read. I find much of what he went through heartbreaking, but not surprising. Being on the bad end of religion by being a gay male had already numbed me.

Who knew?

Merv Griffin was gay? And he just died?

Wow.

And, if the blog is to be believed, Merv wasn't very nice.

Well...

Would you prefer image after image of furry self-portraiture?

Welcome lstr!

In an effort to help give this web space a bit more definition, I have added my good friend Lester to blog here as well.

Hopefully, it won't be picture after picture of Shamu the Whale.

What's in a name?

When thinking of names for this blog, I ran through many of my common sayings. Some that were looked at were:

"As a box of crackers"

"Not so much"

"I made it in summer camp"

"Unicorn giggles"

"Cockpunch"

All of which come from inside jokes with my friends. But, I settled on Day 12 because a) it is sort of an inside joke and b) it fits with my posting style.

It stems from waiting for people. Much like in moves and TV shows, where they flash how many days have passed at the bottom of the screen, I use it to let people know that they are taking too long. I think it first came into use waiting for Courtney to get out of the bathroom in the morning. I would often shout, "Day 12 Courtney!" to let her know that others might like to get in there at some point. "Day 12" then became my go to phrase for any annoying length of time that I would have to wait.

And that is about how long it takes me to post anything to a blog. Srsly.

It also reminds me of a play that I wanted to write (with Rob at the time) that would be done in three act. Act 1 would be set in a lovely living room, Act 2 would be the same room, like 60 minutes later and Act 3 would be 5 years later in the Sahara desert but the conversation would not break due to the time having past or the location changing. Rob and I found that concept HILARIOUS.

Of course, we also found bottling our own tap water and selling it as Northeast Springs Water (tm) hilarious too. Which is sort of is. And sadly, cockpunch.blogspot.com is already taken. I am totally not kidding about that.

A new place.. off the norms

While I still value LJ as a means for communication with a large group of people, sometimes you need a place off the beaten path. For me, this will be it.

Plus, I think LJ might be moving beyond what it can handle and frankly I don't like putting all my eggs into one electronic basket.

Just as a matter of course.

Who knows if this will be updated on a regular basis, heaven knows that LJ isn't, but sometimes you just do things because you are bored off your ass at work.
